Comfortable modern farmhouse, keeping the “bones” and as much of the original foot-print as possible and retaining the original feel; respecting the value in renovation. At this they succeeded, with an attention to detail and workmanship that was unsurpassable. We kept the basic structure of the house allowing for some expansion, including a new 2nd floor master suite.
There were surprises along the way (no foundation under the kitchen, a fire that had occurred many years ago unknown to us and more) but there was no construction problem that could not be solved. Every worker and subcontractor that Tom and Bill employed during this project was excellent. As much as possible, the house was maintained and orderly.
It was very important to us, having never been involved in such an extensive renovation and new build, to have a high level of collaboration and communication. All parties involved were extremely collaborative and patient – no question was too small to ask. Whether through text, email or phone, the level of communication was excellent. In addition, all recommended resources (including websites) for building components such as sinks, toilets, faucets, shower bodies, lighting, tile, hardware, kitchen cabinetry, etc. were of excellent quality and many were money saving. The follow-up on any outstanding details since we have moved has been terrific.
In conclusion, we had an extremely positive experience working with Design Build Hamptons and everyone on the team. If we ever had to do this again, we’d hire them in a heartbeat!
